GENSOLVETM STRIPPING AGENTS REMOVE TOUGH POLYMERS FROM METAL, CERAMIC AND PLASTIC AIRCRAFT COMPONENTS

GenSolve Strippers Work at Low Temperature on a Wide Range of Sealants, Adhesives and Coating Without Damaging the Substrate

Parsippany, New Jersey, Augist 01, 2001 - - General Chemical Corporation has introduced two aircraft grades of its GenSolveTM High-Performance Stripping Agent that remove tenacious silicone and polysulfide sealants and coatings from metal, glass, ceramic and other substrates.

The two GenSolve strippers can help aircraft maintenance crews overcome the difficulties of removing silicone and polysulfide. These materials bond deeply into metal and are usually removed by excising the top layer of metal, which can damage surface integrity. GenSolve stripping agents, by contrast, react with these materials to form simpler chemical compounds and break their attachment to the substrate. This allows them to be suspended in the stripper and rinsed away without harming the metal.

GenSolve strippers can solve many maintenance problems. For instance, they simplify the process of finding leaks by giving crews quick access to leak-prone areas beneath and around seals. They also allow crews to remove red silicone sealant from around passenger windows and replace it with polysulfide and to remove coolant tubes held in place by silicone on jet engine stator blades.

The two aircraft grades serve different functions:

  • GenSolveTM 530-AG Coating and Polysulfide Sealant Stripper removes polymer-based coatings and residues, especially polysulfide sealants. It is certified for silicone-removal by a major American aircraft manufacturer.
  • GenSolveTM 550-AG Silicone Stripper provides superior silicone removal at low temperatures.

GenSolve strippers wet and penetrate even microscopic, hard-to-reach areas. After removing a polymer, they suspend it to prevent redeposition and enable easy rinsing. GenSolve strippers can be sprayed, wiped or used in immersion cleaning systems. They are metal friendly and do not react with such metals as copper, iron, aluminum, zinc and titanium.

General Chemical also offers four industrial GenSolve grades that differ in their selectivity, reactivity, and ability to dissolve organics and hydrophobic-hydrophilic properties.

General Chemical Corporation is a leading supplier of performance chemicals to the environmental, pharmaceutical, personal care, chemical processing and technology markets.
